The King’s Office assists the King in the performance of his constitutional duties and acts as the link between the King and the ministers, who together form the government.
The Office arranges and prepares all contact between the King and the prime minister and the other members of government. It does the same for the many other meetings the King has with Dutch and foreign dignitaries, and for the swearing-in by the King of senior office-holders.
The King’s Office processes the Acts of Parliament, Orders in Council and Royal Decrees that are submitted to the King for his signature by ministers and state secretaries. It also manages the original documents signed by the King until they are transferred to the National Archives.
The Office deals with all the petitions received by the King and assists him in his official correspondence with foreign heads of state and other dignitaries.
